PREPARE AN IMPELLING QUESTION
If a question does not come to you spontaneously, it is imperative to thoughtfully conceive what you want to ask your dream. Above all, you must have a genuine wish to know the answer. A question in which ambivalence resides will get no cooperation from your unconscious. But if you ask a question that is candid and straightforward, the unconscious will elaborate upon and reorganize your conscious input with related data from your personal and collective memories, perceptions, and experiences. And a dream is born! If you’re lucky, the dream will provide an answer that is to the point, an answer that is indisputable. On the other hand, the answer may be like the riddle of the Sphinx, and dreamwork techniques can help you decipher the meaning that lies hidden in the dream. Keep your question short and to the point.
Only you can know what you will discover if you ask your dream for the answer to a creative problem. Try it and see.
