CREATIVE BREAKTHROUGHS
PART-ONE: PREPARATON
Lesson 3 – CHILDHOOD: THIS IS WHERE IT BEGINS
Everyone has a child living within, sometimes a playful, carefree and loving child; other times a sad, lonely, unhappy child whose needs have not been met. In this lesson, you will explore your inner child and discover true creative freedom.
WORKBOOK EXERCISES:
DIALOGUE WITH THE CHILD IN YOU
Start out by having a written dialogue with your child- self. Remember, this is not you when you were a child, but rather is the child currently living within you. Begin by envisioning this child; don’t force a picture, just concentrate on experiencing that part of yourself and let an image arise. Allow yourself to feel fully whatever emotions are stirred in you. When you are ready, ask the child a question, such as “Who are you?” or “Would you like to say something?” and let the conversation flow from there.
Write whatever comes to mind, neither censoring yourself nor forcing a response. If the child says nothing, ask it something else or ask why it doesn’t want to talk to you. Free yourself and allow the conversation to go where it wants to go.
RECALL OUTSTANDING MOMENTS OF CREATIVITY IN YOUR LIFE
You may have had many interests in your life but weren’t sure which one to pursue. Maybe you dabbled in one area, then in an other, and never felt satisfied or motivated enough to continue.
In this exercise, find a quiet spot, take a few deep breaths, and reflect on all the outstanding moments of creativity in your life. You may be surprised.
LIST WHAT STIMULATES YOU; RE-CREATE THE SCENE
Since ideas develop in the unconscious, that’s the first place to direct your attention in order to enhance your inspirational powers. Nurturing and nourishing your creativity can translate into better productivity and more innovative ideas.
Once you’ve examined what turns you on creatively, re-call an occasion when you were intensely inspired while immersed in whatever you were doing, and write the scene out in vivid, explicit detail. Delve as deeply as you can and let yourself go with it; you want to re-create those feelings to the greatest degree possible. Your unconscious is open to suggestion, and the connection between feeling inspired to the greatest degree possible. Your unconscious is open to suggestion, and the connection between feeling inspired and actually being inspired can go both ways. You’ll be amazed at how much influence you can have.
